John Richard Green (Wikipedia)
(12 December 1837 - 7 March 1883) started his career as clergyman but
due to poor healt he gave up this work in 1869. He then worked as a
librarian and began to write on the history of the English people. He
wrote and had published between 1878 and 1880 "A Short History of the English
People" in 4 volumes. His work may be said to have begun a new
epoch in the writing of history where the social, industrial, and moral
